The Gaming Giant Brings Onboard Popular Battle Royale Producer to Revitalize Struggling Action Game Project Ethos
2K Games has welcomed a seasoned producer from the creators of Apex Legends to lead the development team at their internal studio, which is currently working on the upcoming third-person roguelike extraction-shooter known as this innovative game.
Leadership Transition Comes After Poor Response
Brinkman takes on the leadership position at the development studio following the exit of former leader Michael Condrey, who was removed from his post due to the game's disappointing early showing last fall.
On Wednesday, the company's top executive a key figure updated team members about this decision through an official communication, which highlighted that early feedback sessions had shown the requirement for a more defined direction.
Ismailer stated that the developers is now reimagining the project with a renewed vision, aiming to address gamer demands.
A Pattern of Strategic Acquisitions
This announcement echoes a comparable step taken by the publisher in August, when they brought on Rod Fergusson from the Diablo team to work on the beloved franchise studio Cloud Chamber.
Here is the entire text from the president's communication:
Dear Team—
I understand you all just finished your gathering - I hope you’re as excited as I am with the good news. Last time I shared you all a update, I mentioned the following: “I am confident in this group. You all are some of the most driven and talented developers we have had the opportunity to partner with - and we’re looking forward for that partnership to continue.”
Through your commitment and adaptability, particularly over the past twelve months, you consistently demonstrate that.
The gamer responses from last fall’s Project ETHOS testing phase was enlightening. It confirmed the appeal of a action-packed game but made clear we still had refinements needed. It highlighted the requirement for a more distinct identity.
It has been motivating to see how far you’ve progressed. You took the feedback to consideration and revamped the title with a renewed direction - one that’s positioned to achieve its potential to our players.
Our confidence in this project increases every day. To advance the outstanding progress you’ve made, I’m excited to welcome Ben Brinkman as the new Lead of the team. After some time of discussions, he starts with us on the specified date.
His guidance and background in the PVP shooter space is considerable, having spent the last 15 years producing and managing some of the most well-known series in the industry, including the acclaimed shooter, and most recently, Apex Legends.
I invite you all in welcoming him next week. We are all looking forward to persist witnessing the development of Project ETHOS in the time to ahead.
The President

Game Information and Vision
Project Ethos was revealed in last year together with a public demo. Initially, the developers described the title as a "no-cost, third-person perspective action-packed experience and an innovative step forward on the genre."
"Build your perfect run—or die trying—in this 3rd-person action shooter! Build your hero in live gameplay to match your preferred approach," the description explains. "Take on the opponents with new abilities, risks, and obstacles that change every match. Do you withdraw carefully with your valuable rewards? Or take a risk, put it on the line, and pray your squad can achieve the highest spot? The choice is up to you."
The game does not have an announced launch window or consoles, but players can look forward to more updates as development advances.
